LIGHT SNOW SNOW EVENT

1/20/15 Snowfall totalsSNOW A Calcutta Clipper dropped 1″ of snow throughout the metro with just under 2″ in the south metro.

PLOWING A heavier band of snow came through the metro in the morning hours ending around 4am. You may or may not have had a full plow last night. If not, you were probably heavily salted and the majority of the snow will melt during the day today.

WIND This snow fell straight down and was not blown into any drifts leaving us with a nice winter scene to wake up to in Minnesota.

Event Chronology:

  • 4 am 1/21/14 – Snow Ending
  • 11 pm – Heavier snow band starts
  • 7 pm – Snow ending. Changing to fog/mist
  • 4 pm – Light snow beginning

3:30 PM UPDATE

FREEZING RAIN The snow has turned into a ‘Wintry Mix’ for this afternoon and tonight. That will reduce snow totals and increase the possibility of slick roads.

RADAR The National Weather Service is calling for the precip to start after 5 pm, but current radar shows expanding precipitation and could start any minute now from west to east.

SNOW Some heavier snow has crept into the forecast for this afternoon. 1-2″ starting after 4 pm and ending mid-day tomorrow (Wednesday)

PLOWABLE This is a slow-moving system and will drop enough snow to be plowable by morning.
